More Pics on the Way to Belize City

Hey everyone,
These are just a few more of the pics from my trip to Belize City on Monday.
The two at the top are mini-islands. Its awesome. In case of a hurricane, though, it would not be awesome. There would be nothing left of it.
The other pic is another water taxi about to pass us up.
We also saw some dolphins playing way back behind us, but it was too far to get a pic. Sorry!!

Josh

My Trip to Belize City on Monday

Hey Everybody,
On Monday, I went with another brother here in Caye Caulker over to Belize City to do some grocery shopping.
The 2 pics at the top are of an island between Caye Caulker and Belize City. Sorry, but I can't remember the name of it. It's a private golf course. You have to call ahead to even play there. That's right, the WHOLE ISLAND is ONE GOLF COURSE!!!!!
It is beautiful. Rumor has it...Tiger Woods had his wedding there!!

The next pic is a lighthouse on the waterfront of Belize City. It is really pretty. The picture does not do it justice, but it's better than nothing, I guess.
The next pic was taken in Belize City and there were these guys unloading a truck full of these sacks of grain. The truck parked 2 or 3 blocks from where the shipment actually went and the guys unloading the trucks were carrying these bags of grain on their head. Kind of cool!
The last pic is the FRUIT & VEGETABLE MARKET in Belize City. It was definitely different than what I'm used to...Wal-Mart.
More pics are coming...I promise.
Love ya'all,
Josh

Some of the Friends in Caye Caulker

(Top Left): Jeremy and Karen Scriver and little Willie Magania
head out in servicew/ the group last Saturday.
(Top Right): Bro. Randy Smith from neighboring island of
San Pedro gives the public talk w/ construction materials
stacked in the back ot the Kingdom Hall. I've never seen that before.
(Middle Left): Dolly Houghton (white shirt) and Carol Pugh.
(Middle Right): Johhny and his wife and daughter at the end of the day after working on the Kingdom Hall. They are in the Spanish Congregation here in
Caye Caulker. Johhny has one of the most hearty laughs I've ever heard and is constantly smiling.
(Bottom - Under this Writing): Christian (tallest), Buddy (2nd tallest), Willie (to the far left), and little Brendan (the one making the peace sign) MAGANIA.
Love ya'all,
Josh

Kingdom Hall Remodel

Hey guys,
This Kingdom Hall looks brand new.
(Top left): The very last piece of tile laid at the hall.
( Top middle): Half the floor had been tiled. What a difference, huh?
(Top right): The new chair covers are stacked up there. We had to take the chairs apart, sand the frames, and then re-paint them. They were rusty.
(Bottom left): The front doors are being painted. Thats Dan Houghton and Carol Pugh.
(Bottom right): Louis (left) and Ramone (right) paint the screen doors.
More pics of the "new" Kingdom Hall are coming later.
Love ya'all. Post a comment. I enjoy hearing from all of you.

More Pics of the Island

This statue to the left is hand carved by a guy here on the island.
The old truck (top middle) is sitting in front of the house of a lady who's studying with a sister here. LOOK CLOSE!!!
The boat (top right) is where a native of the island LIVES.
He makes these cool hats that look like tree tops..."tree hats".
Thanks for checking out the blog. Please comment. I love to hear from all of you. Love ya, Josh.

ROAD TRIP!!!!

This is some scenery from Playa del Carmen, Mexico and my trip to Belize City on the bus.
The "NO SMOKING" sign was on a bus in Mexico.
I thought it was funny.
Sorry about the lack of blogs the last few days, something was wrong with

The Island...

Here's some beautiful scenery
of the island... Caye Caulker.
More pics are coming... I can only download 5 at a time.

The "Tree House"

I know u all have been waiting for these pics.

So here they are...
The black tubing on top of that building is interesting.
The building is my bathroom (toilet and shower). The black tubing is my hot water heater.
It works great. During the day you have to run cold water at the same time or it's too hot!!
The inside is pretty self-explanatory.
Simple, small, but very adequate.
Thanks for keeping in touch.
Love ya'all.

All Day Friday Working on the Kingdom Hall

We re-upholstered all 45 chairs and sanded and painted the frames, painted the inside walls, and removed the base boards.
On Monday we are putting down new tile.
I will be posting pics of my "treehouse" soon.
Love ya'all.

Flying from Atlanta to Cancun

Descent into Cancun was amazing looking!!

I'm finally here!

Hey Everyone,

After one 36 hour day of traveling, which included 5 hour drive to atlanta, 2 1/2 flight to cancun, then 1 hour bus ride to playa del carmen, mexico. I stayed with one of the most loving, hospitable couples I've ever met (ernesto and guilanna). They took such good care of me. That was Tuesday.

Today, Wednesday, I left playa del carmen at 7:30 am on a bus to chetumal, mexico. From chetumal, I took another 4 hour bus ride across the belize border, thru immigration, and into belize city, belize. I made it just in time to get on the last water taxi to caye caulker.

I arrived to my new home for the next 3 months at about 6:30 pm, then went to the meeting. Small cong., but the friends are great. Singing was very impressive! After that, I ate somedinner and then played sequence w/ dan and dolly houghton,, barry and danielle vista (a couple from san pedro, belize, and danielle's mother, beth.

My humble abode is basically a glorified tree house about 150 yards from the beach, and I absolutely love it!
Pictures coming soon!

**** the buses were like greyhounds, not "chicken buses".

So far this has been one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
Please keep in touch. Thank u all for your support.
